there stood a dam. a dam did stand.
though water, it did not hold back.
that dam that stood. it stood like a man.
who embodied truth like fact.
this man appeared in agony;
brutalized and betrayed.
and I could not guess,
what had made him this way.
a crown he wore, but not of gold.
his clothes were tore, as if been sold.
a lamb to be slaughtered-
what had he done?
he spoke of a a father- he spoke like a son.
–
there stood a dam. a dam did stand.
with wrath that was put on pause.
that dam that stood. it stood like a man.
who upheld a righteous cause.
i saw my life flash.
behind this dam of wrath.
wicked wrongs recorded.
paving a hellish path.
my sin he wore, shoulders high.
why, what for? when i should die?
without this strong dam-
without this son of man.
i fail to stand forgiven- thus i am damned.
–
there stood a dam. a dam did stand.
to do more than appease a king.
that dam that stood. it stood like a man.
who released a heavenly spring.
living water flowing,
down the center from a throne.
and at God’s right hand.
a prince of peace betrothed.
a robe he wore, a crown of gold.
raised among poor, made rich their soul.
Christ stood in the gap-
between God and man.
there stood a dam. a dam did stand.
